Mariners recall Walker to start
Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – The Seattle Mariners recalled right-handed pitcher Taijuan Walker from Triple-A Tacoma to start Monday against the Houston Astros.
Walker, who MLB.com listed as the league’s fifth top prospect, will square off against Houston starter Collin McHugh in the opener of a three-game set.
The 21-year-old dealt with shoulder inflammation in spring training and a setback during April kept him out even longer. He was 1-0 with a 3.60 earned run average in three starts with the Mariners last season.
Seattle optioned outfielder Stefen Romero to Tacoma to make room for Walker on the roster.
