Laurel, MD (SportsNetwork.com) – Majestic Affair is the even-money morning line favorite for Thursday’s $100,000 Frank Whitely Jr. Stakes at Laurel Park.

The seven-furlong stakes for 3-year-olds needed to have post positions redrawn following the cancellation of last Saturday’s racing program at Laurel Park.

Trained by Chad Brown, Majestic Affair will start from the far outside post in the nine-horse field with his regular jockey Kendrick Carmouche. The chestnut gelding is owned by James Covello, Thomas Coleman and Doheny Racing Stable.

Majestic Affair won the Frank Capossela Stakes on Jan. 2 at Aqueduct by 5 3/4 lengths. He was second on Nov. 15 in Laurel Park’s James F. Lewis Stakes.

Majestic Affair won his career debut last July at Canterbury Park, but five weeks later after being transfered to Brown, was eighth at 5-1 in the Saratoga Special. He came back in October with an allowance victory at Parx Racing. The gelding has earned $124,000.

Golden Years, the original 9-5 program favorite, is now the 2-1 second pick and has drawn post 6 with Victor Carrasco remaining as the colt’s rider. The 3-year-old is trained by Rodney Jenkins for Hillwood Stable.

Golden Years has only raced at Laurel winning three of four, including the Maryland Million Nursery on Oct. 18 and Marylander Stakes on Dec. 6. He was fourth in the Lewis Stakes.

“The horse is very intelligent and he picks up on things real quick,” Jenkins said. “If you look into his eyes he is very, very intelligent and he is one of the best moving horses I have ever had.”

Golden Years has banked $146,760 as he begins his 2015 season.

Here is the field for the Frank Whitely from the rail out: Governmentshutdown, Julian Pimentel, 8-1; One More Time, Erik Ramirez, 20-1; Sizzling Quatorze, Angel Serpa, 20-1; Notional Debt, Sheldon Russell, 15-1; Bodhisattva, Victor Santiago, 8-1; Golden Years, Victor Carrasco, 2-1; Measured, Horacio Karamanos, 30-1; Mini Cosmo, Frankie Pennington, 20-1 and Majestic Affair, Kendrick Carmouche, even.

Post time will be approximately 4:27 p.m. ET.
