Madonna Returns In Concert
Madonna will be returning to the US after an international tour that began with sold-out audiences in Tel Aviv, Israel. The fifty-year old rocker has been making headlines the world over, and not all of them have to do with her music.
She brought down the house in Moscow recently, when during her performance of “Like a Virgin”, she stopped to announce her support of three members of an all-girl punk group called Pussy Riot, currently jailed on charges on hooliganism. Removing her jacket, she revealed the words “Pussy Riot” sketched across her back. Madonna’s contention was the girls had the right to freedom of speech, but the Orthodox Church of Russia is the entity pressing charges, stating the group had violated a sanctuary when they performed a prayer to the Virgin Mary within the main entrance, crying, “take Putin down”.
Nor did she make the French Front Leader, Marine Le Penn, very happy when she showed a video with a swastika superimposed on the politician’s face. Setting aside her politics, her debut in Philadelphia is being greeted with enthusiastic support by MLAR – Main Line Animal Rescue. With big names such as Nick Adams and Dee Silvers bidding $100,000 a pop for the August 28 performance, it is believed to be the highest paid for a concert ticket. The proceeds for these high end tickets that were sold at a special auction, will be donated to MLAR’s rehabilitation program for dogs rescued from Pennsylvania’s puppy mills.
Critics have been hard on Madonna. She has been making the worst dressed billings for twenty years. Despite her apparent concern for factory produced dog breeding – MLAR states that the breeding dogs are kept in small confined cages, while the puppies are sold to pet stores and online sites – PETA has taken her down for wearing furs. Recently she made the worst dressed list for wearing clothing inappropriate for her age when she appeared in fingerless gloves, a short punk rocker skirt and over the knee boots. But hey, what they don’t understand is that Madonna is a rock star and rock stars are notorious for wearing whatever the @&$*@ they please!
People don’t attend her shows because of her politics or because they want tips on what to wear. They come to listen to her music and watch her performances, and Madonna always gives all that she has. She is the most controversial female musician in US history and if you are a Madonna fan, you won’t be disappointed as Madonna continues to grab the spotlight, rocking you down, and sometimes, even making you think. Everywhere she goes, Madonna tickets sell out; in Israel, Amsterdam, Moscow, and now back to the United States. If you want to catch a Madonna show, you need to be quick, because she remains the hottest, most controversial star on the stage.
