Arcadia, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert has withdrawn Lord Nelson from Sunday’s $800,000 Sunland Derby.

Owned by Peachtree Stable, Lord Nelson was listed as the 3-1 second pick for 1 1/8-mile race after finishing fourth behind Dortmund in the San Felipe Stakes at Santa Anita two weeks ago.

“He just ran and I entered him to see if he would bounce back, but he’s … not quite as sharp as I’d want him to be,” said Baffert.

The colt began the year by winning Santa Anita’s San Vicente Stakes on Feb. 1 and has won half of his six career starts for $273,571.
