Lin Likely out for Season, what does it mean for the Knicks?
After just making his career breakthrough for the New York Knicks in February, and sending the world into Linsanity for several weeks, Jeremy Lin will now be out for the remainder of the regular season after finding out that he needs surgery on his knee.
It was last Saturday that the injury first started bothering Lin, and it forced him to leave the game against Detroit early. He was practicing with his team the following Monday before a game, and thought that he would be able to return to play if he could control the pain. He couldn’t and so, he saw several doctors that said the same thing — the injury was a chronic meniscus tear that would require surgery. He’ll be having that surgery next week but with a six-week recovery time, and the regular season ending on April 26, it’s unlikely that he’ll be better in time for the playoffs, if his team even makes it that far. If they do, they’ll be relying on undrafted Harvard alum Baron Davis.
During a press conference Lin said, “If this was done very early in the year, obviously…I don’t know where my career would be. I could be, would be definitely without a job and probably fighting for a summer league spot. But having said that, this happening now hurts just as much, because all the players, we really put our heart and souls into the team and into the season, and to not be there when it really matters most is hard.”
