Liberty to visit UNC, App State in 2014
Lynchburg, VA (SportsNetwork.com) – Liberty will seek to claim a seventh Big South Conference title in eight years as part of its 2014 schedule announced on Wednesday.
The Flames, who were 8-4 under coach Turner Gill this past season, will be seeking their first-ever FCS playoff berth as well. They will play six home games and six road games.
Liberty will open its season at the University of North Carolina from the Atlantic Coast Conference on Aug. 30 and will bookend its non-conference schedule against a second FBS opponent, visiting new Sun Belt Conference member Appalachian State on Oct. 11.
In between those two games, the Flames also will visit Norfolk State (Sept. 6), host Brevard (Sept. 13) and Bryant (Sept. 20), go to Indiana State (Sept. 27) and host Richmond (Oct. 4) on Homecoming Day.
Liberty’s Big South schedule consists of home dates against Gardner-Webb (Oct. 25), new member Monmouth (Nov. 8) and Charleston Southern (Nov. 15) as well as road games against Presbyterian (Nov. 1) and fellow 2013 champion Coastal Carolina (Nov. 22).
