Li expecting first child

Melbourne, Australia (SportsNetwork.com) – Retired Australian Open champion Li Na told the crowd at Melbourne Park on Monday that she is expecting her first child with her husband and former coach Jiang Shan.

“Me and Dennis (Jiang), we are so excited. Our first child will be out this summer,” the two-time Grand Slam champ told Rod Laver Arena in a ceremony before the night session on Day 1 of the Australian Open.

“I think Dennis is doing a good job. He just made one ace.”

After capturing her first Aussie Open championship last year on her third trip to the final, the 32-year-old Chinese Li retired from the WTA in September, citing nagging knee injuries.
