Leafs’ Bernier headed for surgery
Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) – The Toronto Maple Leafs announced that goaltender Jonathan Bernier will undergo surgery to repair a sports hernia on Wednesday.
The injury forced him to miss five games last month and the final four games of the season after he aggravated the issue April 3 against Boston.
Bernier compiled a 26-19-7 record with a 2.68 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage with the Maple Leafs, who missed the playoffs after a late- season collapse.
