Lampert claims maiden win in Austria
Godersdorf, Austria (SportsNetwork.com) – Moritz Lampert carded a 6-under 65 on Sunday to claim a 1-stroke victory at the Karnten Golf Open.
Lampert earned his first career win on the European Challenge Tour at 19- under-par 265.
“It is my first victory, which makes it special, because I have been playing on invites up until now and this just changes my whole schedule, my season, and my goals,” said Lampert.
Byeong-hun An (66) finished in second place at 18-under, while Filippo Bergamaschi (67) took third at minus-17.
Third-round leader Florian Fritsch carded a 3-under 68 during his final round at Golfclub Schloss Finkenstein to fall into a tie for fourth with Jake Roos (66) and Cyril Bouniol (69) at 16-under 268.
Lampert followed an opening par with back-to-back birdies at the second and third. He converted another pair of gains at the sixth and seventh to move to 17-under.
After trading a birdie at the ninth with a bogey at the 11th, the German rolled in birdies at the 13th and 15th to reach 19-under. He parred his final three holes to close out the victory.
