Kuznetsova pulls out of Wimbledon
London, England (Sports Network) – Two-time Grand Slam champion Svetlana Kuznetsova decided to pull out of Wimbledon on Wednesday, citing an abdominal strain.
The former top-10 Russian star was seeded 26th at the All England Club.
The 27-year-old Kuznetsova captured the U.S. Open in 2004 and French Open in 2009 and is also a two-time Grand Slam runner-up, but has never advanced beyond the quarterfinals at the world’s lone grass-court major.
Wimbledon gets underway Monday.
