Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Los Angeles Kings signed defenseman Jamie McBain to a one-year contract on Tuesday.

McBain totaled six goals and 11 assists over 69 games for the Buffalo Sabres in his fifth NHL season.

Since cracking the Carolina Hurricanes’ lineup during the 2009-10 season, the 26-year-old Minnesota native claims 25 goals and 92 points over 275 appearances.

“It’s kind of been a crazy summer in a sense,” noted McBain. “I mean just kind of bouncing around, going to Arizona camp, leaving there, not knowing where to go, and coming to Manchester and getting this opportunity, so it’s kind of been definitely a crazy few weeks.”

The move was able to be consummated because defenseman Slava Voynov was designated a non-roster player stemming from his indefinite suspension on Oct. 20 in the wake of his arrest on domestic violence charges.

McBain’s addition will not count against the league’s 23-man roster limit, though the team continues to pay Voynov’s salary which counts against the salary cap.
