Kentucky Derby Future Wager dates released

Louisville, KY (SportsNetwork.com) – The opportunity to bet on the 141st running of the Kentucky Derby will begin five months before the starting gate springs open on the first Saturday in May.

Churchill Downs announced Wednesday the dates of the four betting pools of the Future Wager. This is the second straight year of four wagering pools with each pool consisting of 24 wagering interests, including 23 individual horses and a pari-mutuel field.

The betting will begin with Pool 1 on Friday, Nov. 28 through Sunday, Nov. 30. Pool 2 will be Friday, Feb. 6 through Sunday, Feb. 8 followed by Pool 3 from Friday, Feb. 27 through Sunday, March 1 and conclude with Pool 4 Friday, March 27 through Sunday, March 29.

Each pool will be open for three days starting on a Friday at noon (all times Eastern) and closing on Sunday at 6 p.m.

The 2015 $2 million Kentucky Derby will be run at Churchill Downs on Saturday, May 2.
