Raleigh, NC (SportsNetwork.com) – The Carolina Hurricanes revealed Thursday that center Jordan Staal will miss the next 3-to-4 months following surgery to repair a fractured right fibula.

The procedure will take place on Friday at Raleigh Orthopedic by Dr. Marty Isbell and Dr. Kevin Logel.

Staal, 26, younger brother to team captain Eric Staal, was injured during Tuesday’s exhibition contest when he was entangled with Sabres defenseman Josh Gorges.

The left-handed shooter had not missed a regular-season game since being acquired from Pittsburgh in the summer of 2012, accumulating 25 goals and 71 points over 130 contests since then.
