Jays’ Lawrie comes off DL
Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) – The Toronto Blue Jays activated third baseman Brett Lawrie from the 15-day disabled list on Saturday.
Lawrie landed on the DL in late May with a left ankle sprain. He batted .209 with five homers and 14 RBI through 37 games before injuring his ankle on a stolen base against Atlanta on May 27. A rib injury caused him to begin the season on the DL.
To make room on the roster for Lawrie, the Blue Jays optioned infielder Munenori Kawasaki to Triple-A Buffalo. Kawasaki has hit .213 and driven in 20 runs over 70 games with Toronto this season.
