Uniondale, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – The New York Islanders have placed defensemen Johnny Boychuk and Lubomir Visnovsky on injured reserve.
Both have upper body injuries. Boychuk’s designation is retroactive to Nov. 27 and Visnovsky’s is retroactive to Nov. 28.
Boychuk, acquired from Boston in early October, has two goals and 12 assists in 21 games this season. Visnovsky has a goal and five assists in 17 games.
The Islanders recalled top prospect Griffin Reinhart from their American Hockey League affiliate in Bridgeport on an emergency basis. Reinhart, the fourth overall pick of the 2012 draft, made his NHL debut earlier this season and did not register a point in three games.
