Indians’ Kluber wins AL Pitcher of the Month
New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Cleveland Indians pitcher Corey Kluber was named the American League Pitcher of the Month on Tuesday.
Kluber posted a 5-1 mark for the final month of the season, notching a 2.09 earned run average and striking out a Major League-leading 56 batters over 43 innings.
After getting tagged for five runs in just 2 2/3 innings in a loss to Detroit to open the month, Kluber won his next five starts, beginning with a complete game against the White Sox.
He lasted at least seven innings in each of his five final starts, and allowed just five earned runs over that time to earn his first monthly award.
