Hutsby wins by 2 shots in Kazakhstan
Almaty, Kazakhstan (SportsNetwork.com) – Sam Hutsby fired a final-round, 5- under 67 on Sunday to secure a 2-shot victory at the Kazakhstan Open.
Hutsby, who will be able to return to the European Tour with his first career victory on the European Challenge Tour, finished the week at 19-under-par 269.
Entering the day in the lead, Hutsby made three straight pars to start his round at Zhailjau Golf Resort. Hutsby dropped a shot on the par-3 fourth hole, but he made up for it with three birdies in a four-hole span from No. 6 as he finished his opening nine at minus-2.
Hutsby continued to roll with four birdies in five holes from No. 11, with a par right in the middle on No. 13. A par-par-bogey finish was still good enough for Hutsby to secure a 2-shot win.
Andrew Johnston, who has already won twice on tour this season, finished in sole possession of second place at 17-under 271 following a final-round, 8- under 64.
Johnston finished five shots clear of third-place finisher Byeong-hun An, who shot a 69 on Sunday to end at 12-under 276. Alvaro Velasco and Jocke Rask carded matching 68s and they finished another shot back at minus-11.
