Hurricanes place Liles on IR

Raleigh, NC (SportsNetwork.com) – The Carolina Hurricanes placed defenseman John-Michael Liles on injured reserve Tuesday.

The 34-year-old native of Indiana has posted a goal and six assists in just 25 games for the ‘Canes this season.

To fill the roster spot, Carolina recalled defenseman Ryan Murphy from their American Hockey League affiliate in Charlotte.

The 21-year-old began the season with the Hurricanes, recording one assist in six appearances. With Charlotte, he has tied for the team lead with 17 assists through 23 games.
