Charlotte, NC (SportsNetwork.com) – Prior to hosting Milwaukee in their season opener, the Charlotte Hornets announced that they have exercised the team’s fourth-year option on small forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and third-year option on power forward Cody Zeller.

Kidd-Gilchrist was selected No. 2 overall by Charlotte, then the Bobcats, back in 2012 after helping lead the Kentucky Wildcats to a national title. The Philly product has struggled with his jump shot thus far in his career but has made his mark as a defensive stopper.

In two seasons, Kidd-Gilchrist is averaging 8.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. He has started 139 of 140 games.

Zeller appeared in all 82 games as a rookie last season, averaging 6.0 points and 4.3 boards per game. Another Charlotte lottery pick, Zeller was taken fourth overall in 2013 out of Indiana.
