Hit Up the Vampire Weekend Tour
Formed in 2006, Vampire Weekend has taken the music scene by storm over the past few years. Made up of Ezra Koenig (vocals, guitar), Rostam Batmanglij (keyboards, guitar, backing vocals), Chris Tomson (drums), and Chris Baio (bass guitar backing vocals), they consistently put out good music and put on great shows.
They released their first album, titled Vampire Weekend, in 2008, and it featured a number of popular singles, including “A-Punk”, “Oxford Comma”, and “The Kids Don’t Stand a Chance”. They released a follow-up album two years later called Contra. In May of 2013, they released their third studio album, Vampires of the City. With each of the successive album releases, their musical talents grow along with their sales. Their second and third album both debuted at number one on the Billboard charts, which marked the first time that an independent band debuted on the Billboard at #1 with two releases in a row.
In addition to their own songs, they’ve covered quite a few songs from other artists, including “Everywhere” from Fleetwood Mac to “Ruby Soho” by Rancid and even “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke. Some of their covers prove to be just as popular as their original songs.
Their music has been popular to use in film and television as well. For example, they’ve had songs on How I Met Your Mother, as well as in the movie Step Brothers. An episode of the television show Castle even has an episode titled “Vampire Weekend”. They have performed on Saturday Night Live three times thus far too.
The band is currently touring the country – as well as other parts of the world – in support of their latest album, Vampires of the City, and that is great news for fans of the band. Vampire Weekend puts on a great show, and they sound phenomenal playing live. If they are coming to a town near you, and you’ve been a fan of the music, you owe it to yourself to pick up some tickets and go. It’s a fun night out with some friends, and will be a concert you won’t forget.
