Known as “The Greatest Show on Earth”, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus has been entertaining families with their shows since 1919. Before that, each of the entities, the circus and the Ringling Bros., performed separately even though they were all a part of the same company. After the merger in 1919, the company really started to take off. The circus has a long and interesting history with some amazing performers. Back in the late 1930s, one of the start performers was Frank Buck. He was a hunter and an adventurer. He was even an actor, writer, producer, and director. His personality and story was larger than life, and the public learned of him through his book Bring ‘Em Back Alive and his movies.

He was a huge draw to the circus, but Buck was not the only reason people loved going to see Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. The circus had a number of different animals and acts, all of which helped to cement its popularity in popular culture. People loved to come for the animal shows with elephants, horses, lions, tigers, and more. They also love to watch many of the death defying stunts at the circus, such as tightrope walkers. Many children love to watch the antics of the clowns too.

Circuses have been popular in the United States for well over a century, and they are sure to remain a part of the landscape for many more years to come. They can be fun for all ages, and many people have fond memories of seeing circuses when they were children.
