Griner out for Game 3
Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) – Phoenix Mercury center Brittney Griner missed Game 3 of the WNBA Finals on Friday against Chicago after undergoing an outpatient procedure to correct a retinal issue.
Doctors told Griner she wouldn’t play Friday as a precaution.
“I was….highly displeased,” Griner said on the Mercury’s Twitter feed.
Griner suffered the injury during Game 2 on Tuesday. She scored 19 points and blocked four shots in the lopsided victory.
Phoenix has a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series and can claim its first WNBA title since 2009 with a win on Friday.
Griner was listed as day-to-day.
