Giants’ Belt returns
San Diego, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – For the first time in nearly two months, the San Francisco Giants will have first baseman Brandon Belt back in the lineup when the team begins a weekend series in San Diego on Friday.
Belt, out since May 9 with a fractured left thumb, will bat second in Friday’s game against the Padres.
The 26-year-old sustained the injury when he was struck by a pitch from Paul Maholm of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Belt had been leading the Giants with nine home runs at the time while posting a .264 average with 18 RBI in 35 games.
