Are you already looking forward to next season? After the excitement of the 2013 NBA Finals, when the Heat eked out a title win against the San Antonio Spurs, it’s only natural that you are ready and raring to go for the new season. Whether you love the Heat or want to see them fall, everyone wants to see how LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and the rest of the team will perform.

The Miami Heat has been an NBA franchise since their inception in 1988. During that time, they’ve won ten division titles, four conference titles, and three championships. They won in 2006, 2012, and 2013. They won an amazing 27 games in a row in early 2013, and this puts them second only to the Lakers, who have the current NBA record with 33 consecutive wins. The early years were tough for the franchise, which often happens with expansion teams. They’ve really come into their own though, particularly these last few years. The Heat has been the home of some of the best and most popular players in history too. Look at some of the stars who have been a part of the heat at some time: Alonzo Mourning, Tim Hardaway, Shaquille O’Neal, Lamar Odom, and Jason Williams.

The Heat also has one of the strangest mascots in the NBA. If you visit a home game, you are sure to see Burnie, a walking fireball made of orange plush with a green basketball nose. In a world of strange sports mascots, this fellow is one of the oddest, but most of the Miami Heat fans love their big red-orange fireball!

The Heat has some great rivalries going throughout the NBA too, and it’s always exciting to see them take on some of their archrivals. Four of their major rivals include the Chicago Bulls, the NY Knicks, the Indiana Pacers, and the Boston Celtics. The home opener this year is against the Bulls, so it should prove to be an exciting game.

If you love the Heat, or you want to see your favorite team take LeBron and the others to school, it’s time you thought about buying some tickets. There’s nothing quite like seeing an NBA game live.
