George Strait – The King of Country Music is Coming to See You

George Strait is often called the king of country music, having more number one hit singles than any other artist, country music or otherwise, throughout the history of documented music!  Thus far, he has a total of 58 number one hits.  If he were to sing every #1 hit in a row, well let’s just say that would be one long concert.  Luckily for fans however, you can hear a lot of his top hits when you see the legend live and in concert. 

George Strait’s popularity probably comes from a combination of good looks, a great voice, and catchy songs that fit into a number of styles.  The country singer croons out traditional music, as well as heart breaking ballads, and plenty of honky-tonk.  He was nominated for the “Artist of the Decade” in the 2000s, as he had plenty of cross over hits and even won his first Grammy during this time.  The Country Music Awards have also been kind to the singer, as he has more total wins than any other artist to date.  Fans aren’t stingy with the praise either, and a total of over 68 million albums have been bought in the United States alone.

Some of the famous hits include 1987’s “All My Ex’s Live in Texas” which is why the song claims, “Therefore I reside in Tennessee”.  “I Cross My Heart” was another hit that was the emotional finale song of the movie the singer starred in called “Pure Country”, and was off the album with the same name.  Other well known hits include “Check Yes or No”, “Carrying Your Love With Me”, and “She’ll Leave You With a Smile”.  The year 2011 saw a brand new album released by Strait, and in his fashion, “Here for a Good Time” has already hit number one. 

George Strait is never one to rest, and he is already on tour for 2012.  He is currently touring with another country legend, Martina McBride.  Why not see the country singer when he stops in a town near you?  There are so many hits to hear, new and old, and nothing beats hearing them sung live!
