Game On Dude puts in impressive workout for Classic
Del Mar, CA (Sports Network) – Leading thoroughbred Game On Dude put in his most impressive workout Wednesday leading to the $1 million Pacific Classic on Sunday, Aug. 25 at Del Mar.
Trained by Bob Baffert, the 6-year-old gelding worked six furlongs in 1:12 2/5 at the San Diego track. His Hall of Fame trainer had him galloping out 1 1/8 miles in 1:51 with jockey Martin Garcia.
“He went nice, it was a good long work,” Baffert said. “I liked the way he went over the track.”
Set to be ridden by Joel Rosario in the 1 1/4-mile Classic, Game On Dude was also timed galloping out Wednesday in 1:24 3/5 for seven furlongs.
Game On Dude will come into the Pacific Classic undefeated this year in four starts. The 6-year-old found the winner’s circle in the San Antonio Stakes, Santa Anita Handicap, Charles Town Classic and Hollywood Gold Cup. Only Lava Man, in 2006, posted wins in the Pacific Classic, Santa Anita Handicap and Hollywood Gold Cup the same year.
