Los Alamitos, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Reigning Horse of the Year California Chrome put in a Friday morning workout at Los Alamitos Racecourse in advance of his next start in the $10 million Dubai World Cup on March 28.

Trained by Art Sherman, “Chrome” covered six furlongs in 1:11 and galloped out seven furlongs in 1:24.60 with exercise rider Anna Wells.

“Chrome leaves on March 17 and I leave on the 22nd,” Sherman said. “He’ll have one breeze over the track there before the race.

“All the details are completed now, and there was quite a bit of paper work. But I’m looking forward to the trip. I’m going to have a good time. Everything looks like it’s going well.”

Owned by Steve Coburn and Perry Martin, “Chrome” finished second to Shared Belief in last month’s $500,000 San Antonio Stakes at Santa Anita. The 2014 Kentucky Derby and Preakness champ was the 7-5 second pick behind even- money favorite Shared Belief for the 1 1/8-mile stakes, but finished 1 1/2 lengths behind.

The two-time Eclipse Award winner has nine wins from 17 starts for $4,322,650.
