Fox runs away with win in Australia
Mt. Claremont, Australia (SportsNetwork.com) – Ryan Fox fired a final-round, 5-under 67 on Sunday and he cruised to a 6-shot victory at the WA Open Championship.
Fox finished the week at 23-under-par 265 at Cottesloe Golf Club to earn his first victory on the PGA Tour of Australia.
The 27-year-old started off with two birdies on his first three holes from No. 1, with a bogey on No. 2. Following a pair of pars, Fox rattled off three straight birdies from No. 6 to get to minus-4 on the day. He finished off his front nine with a par on nine.
Already with a substantial lead, Fox finished strong with birdies on 10 and 14 to go along with a bogey at the last to complete his fourth straight round in the 60s.
Stephen Dartnall finished a distant second at 17-under 271 after his final- round, 3-under 69. Rhein Gibson (70), Daniel Nisbet (71) and Paul Spargo (74) all ended tied for third at 16-under 272.
