Flyers’ Umberger to miss remainder of season
Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) – Philadelphia Flyers forward R.J. Umberger will undergo surgery next week for hip and abdominal injuries and will miss the remainder of the season.
The Flyers said Umberger will need 10 weeks to recover from procedures for his right hip and abdominal muscles. The operation is set to be performed Wednesday.
Umberger has missed the last two games after appearing in each of the team’s first 67 contests this season. He has nine goals and six assists for 15 points.
The 32-year-old veteran has compiled 178 goals and 203 assists for 381 points in 740 regular-season games over 10 seasons for Philadelphia and Columbus.
