Flames’ Smid lands on IR
Calgary, AB (SportsNetwork.com) – The Calgary Flames placed defenseman Ladislav Smid on injured reserve on Saturday.
Smid appeared to suffer an upper-body injury after getting hit up high by Penguins defenseman Simon Despres in the first period of Friday’s 3-1 loss in Pittsburgh.
The 28-year-old has tallied just one assist in 28 games this season, his second with the Flames.
Calgary recalled defenseman Corey Potter from Adirondack (AHL) to take Smid’s place.
