Flames rookie Bennett out 4-6 months
Calgary, AB (SportsNetwork.com) – The Calgary Flames announced Thursday that 2014 first-round pick Sam Bennett will undergo shoulder surgery next week that will sideline him for the majority of his rookie season.
The Flames have given Bennett, the fourth overall selection in this year’s NHL Entry Draft, a 4-to-6 month timetable for a return.
Bennett was limited to just three preseason games by the shoulder problem as well as a groin injury, though the 18-year-old will still expected to make the Flames’ roster.
The Ontario native amassed 36 goals and 55 assists in just 57 games with the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League last season.
