Flames place Stajan on IR, call up Granlund
Calgary, AB (SportsNetwork.com) – The Calgary Flames placed forward Matt Stajan on injured reserve Wednesday with a knee injury that is expected to sideline him for six weeks.
Stajan left a 2-1 shootout loss to the Canadiens on Tuesday when he was part of an accidental knee-on-knee hit with Montreal defenseman Jarred Tinordi.
The 30-year-old center recorded a goal and one assist in 11 appearances this season.
To fill the roster spot, Calgary recalled forward Markus Granlund from Adirondack of the American Hockey League. The 21-year-old native of Finland recorded three goals and five points in eight games so far for the Flames’ chief affiliate.
