First Bands and Dates Announced for Warped Tour

The Vans Warped Tour is a highly anticipated event in the United States every year and as always, about six months before it kicks off, people are starting to talk about the lineup, and where the tour will be when.

The full lineup hasn’t yet been announced; the bigger names are usually held close to organizers’ chests until the date gets nearer. But, the first five bands have been announced and they are: Bayside, Memphis Fire, The Silver Comet, Chelsea Grin, and Sleeping with Sirens. What’s not so secret is where the tour will be this summer; a full list of dates has been released that you can check out here. The tour starts in Salt Lake City, Utah on June 16, 2012 and will travel extensively throughout the United States and Canada all summer, with most performances taking place during the month of July. Wrapping up with just a few shows in August, the tour will wrap on August 5, 2012 in Portland, Oregon.

This will be the 18th anniversary for the Warped Tour. It originally began as a combination of skateboarding and music, with several different stages set up for several different bands to play throughout the entire day. When Vans took over during the early years, the tour was expanded to include even more stages and artists, both very well-known as well as up-and-comers. Today, the original concept of combining great music with great sports is still very much the driving force of the tour.
