Federer to play Dimitrov in MSG exhibition
New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Former world No. 1 great Roger Federer will play “Baby Fed” in an exhibition tennis match at Madison Square Garden in March.
World No. 11 Grigor Dimitrov, whose playing style reminds some of the 17-time Grand Slam champion Federer, will battle the Swiss icon in the eighth edition of the BNP Paribas Showdown on March 10.
This will mark the currently second-ranked Federer’s third time playing at MSG. He faced former No. 1 great Pete Sampras in 2008 and former top-ranked star Andy Roddick in 2012.
Federer is 1-0 versus Dimitrov on the ATP World Tour, with the victory coming in straight sets in a quarterfinal in the Swiss’ hometown of Basel last year.
