Fatal accident at Woodbine Race Course
Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) – Tuesday morning at Woodbine Race Course an exercise rider was killed when the horse he was on collapsed on top of him.
Mourad Boudraa was killed when his mount Tawney’s Wish fell on him after suffering an apparent heart attack. Boudraa, a native of Morocco, suffered head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
“All of us in the Woodbine community are deeply saddened by the death of exercise rider, Mourad Boudraa, in this morning’s tragic accident. Our thoughts are with his family,” read a statement from the track.
“We are working closely with officials to support them in their investigation,” said Jamie Martin, Executive Vice-President Racing for Woodbine Entertainment Group. “Our hearts and sympathies go out to Mourad Boudraa’s loved ones in this sad and very difficult time.”
The Ontario Ministry of Labour along other agencies are investigating this tragic incident.
