Disney on Ice is Fun for the Entire Family

Disney on Ice is a show presented by Feld Entertainment, under an agreement with The Walt Disney Company. Family friendly entertainment is the show’s goal, as professional figure skaters in costumes perform shows derived from Disney films and other properties, with the billed “stars” of the shows being the Disney characters themselves.

The show started under the name “Walt Disney’s World on Ice” in 1981, but was changed to simply “Disney on Ice” in 1998. They feature as many as eight different productions and touring companies doing performances the world over, with new shows debuting in North America before touring the world.

Some of the earliest shows featured characters such as Goofy in a celebration of sports, a birthday bash for Donald Duck, Pinocchio, Aladdin, Snow White, and many others.

Some shows, such as “100 Years of Magic” and “Mickey and Minnie’s Amazing Journey” have been in production for over 12 years with no signs of slowing down.

Disney on Ice also has many other shows with long runs, but these aren’t in production anymore, such as “Jungle Adventures”, which had a 6 year run from 2000 to 2006, and “Disney — Pixar’s Finding Nemo”, also with a six year run from 2004 to 2010.

These shows have been hits with Disney fans of all ages, even becoming a family tradition for some people who are now taking their children and grandchildren to see the shows they loved to watch when they themselves were kids.
