Diamondbacks avoid arbitration with OF Parra
Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) – The Arizona Diamondbacks avoided arbitration with outfielder Gerardo Parra by agreeing on a one-year contract, the club announced Monday.
Financial terms were not disclosed. Parra had been seeking a salary of $5.2 million, with the Diamondbacks making an initial offer of $4.3 million.
The 26-year-old appeared in 156 games for Arizona last season and batted .268 with 48 RBI. He has spent all five of his major-league campaigns with the Diamondbacks.
Parra also received a National League Gold Glove Award as Arizona’s primary right fielder and set a franchise record with a NL-best 17 assists last season.
