Denver DE Wolfe not seriously hurt in wake of collision
Englewood, CO (Sports Network) – The Denver Broncos received a bit of good news following a 40-10 drubbing at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks in exhibition play Saturday.
Defensive end Derek Wolfe avoided serious injury after a head-first, first- quarter collision caused him to be carried off the field, immobilized and strapped to a stretcher then taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
The Broncos issued a release early Sunday morning, indicating that Wolfe “was evaluated for a cervical spine injury and underwent several tests, including X-ray, CT and MRI scans. All tests were negative, and he will accompany the team on its flight back to Denver.”
Wolfe is a second-year pro out of Cincinnati, who totaled 40 tackles and six sacks in 16 games last season for the Broncos.
