D-Backs’ Pollock has successful hand surgery
Phoenix, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) – Arizona Diamondbacks center fielder A.J. Pollock underwent successful surgery Monday to repair a fracture in his right hand and is expected to miss at least the next eight weeks.
Pollock sustained the injury after being struck on the hand by a pitch from Cincinnati Reds right-hander Johnny Cueto in the eighth inning of Saturday’s game.
He was placed on the 15-day disabled list the following day and is tentatively scheduled to resume baseball activities in approximately eight weeks.
The 26-year-old Pollock was batting .316 with six homers and 15 RBI through 52 games this season.
