Cullen cruises to big win in Queensland
Queensland, Australia (Sports Network) – Nick Cullen closed with a 3-under 69 on Sunday and cruised to a 5-stroke win at the Isuzu Queensland Open.
Cullen finished his first PGA Tour Australasia win at 9-under-par 279 at Brookwater Golf and Country Club.
The 29-year-old Australian started his round with birdies at the first and third. He dropped a shot at the sixth, then parred the next three to make the turn at minus-7.
Cullen birdied the 10th and 12th. After three pars in a row, he tripped to a bogey at the par-3 16th, but closed the tournament in style as he birdied the last.
Peter O’Malley stumbled to a 1-over 73 to end alone in second at minus-4. David McKenzie matched the low round of the day with his 4-under 68. That helped him jump into third place at 2-under-par 286.
Jake Higginbottom posted a 3-under 69 and was the final player in red figures at minus-1.
