Cowboys’ McClain doubtful, Bryant questionable

Irving, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – The Dallas Cowboys appear likely to be without middle linebacker Rolando McClain when they visit St. Louis this Sunday to battle the Rams.

McClain, who has not practiced this week due to a groin injury, has been listed as doubtful on Friday’s final injury report.

After spending last season out of football, McClain won the Cowboys’ starting middle linebacker job during the preseason and has recorded a team-best 15 tackles along with one interception and one sack through the first two weeks.

Dallas was already shorthanded at the linebacker spot with Sean Lee out for the season with a torn ACL and veteran Justin Durant to miss a second straight game with a strained groin. Rookie Anthony Hitchens is slated to man the middle if McClain can’t play on Sunday.

On the offensive side, top wide receiver Dez Bryant was termed questionable with a sore shoulder that has limited him in practice the past two days, though ESPN Dallas reported Friday that he’s fully expected to play.

Bryant briefly left last week’s game at Tennessee with the injury, but returned to rack up 103 yards and a touchdown on 10 catches.

Quarterback Tony Romo, meanwhile, put in a second straight full practice on Friday and is probable for Sunday’s tilt.

Defensive end Anthony Spencer remains sidelined as he continues to recover from offseason knee surgery.
