El Paso, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – Aaron Bacote scored 25 points to lead Old Dominion to a 73-58 win over Marshall in the second round of the Conference USA Tournament.

Dimitri Batten added 13 points for the sixth-seeded Monarchs (16-16), who will face third-seeded Middle Tennessee in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

Kareem Canty scored 17 points and Shawn Smith added 15 points and 11 rebounds for the 14th-seeded Thundering Herd (11-22), who beat Florida Atlantic in the first round on Tuesday.

Old Dominion, playing its first game of the tournament, opened the second half with an 8-0 run after leading 24-22 at the break and Marshall never got closer than three after that.

The Monarchs have won two in a row for the first time since a four-game run from Jan. 4-18.

Final Score: Tulane 66, North Texas 61

El Paso, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – Jonathan Stark had 21 points and seven assists and Tulane rallied to defeat North Texas, 66-61, in the second round of the Conference USA Tournament.

Tulane trailed by as many as 13 in the second half before storming back with a game-changing 15-3 run. The Green Wave had trailed the entire game until a Kevin Thomas free throw gave them a 52-51 edge with 6:36 left.

Jay Hook tallied 11 points and eight rebounds, while Tre Drye pulled down 11 boards for the seventh-seeded Green Wave (17-15), who will play second-seeded Tulsa in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

Brandan Walton netted 16 points to lead 10th-seeded North Texas (16-16).

Final Score: Texas-El Paso 77, East Carolina 68

El Paso, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – Julian Washburn paced four teammates in double figures with 20 points, as the Texas-El Paso Miners downed the East Carolina Pirates, 77-68, in the second round of the Conference USA Tournament at the Don Haskins Center.

Washburn shot 4-of-8 from 3-point range for the fifth-seeded and tournament host Miners (23-9), who will play Southern Miss in the quarterfinals on Thursday. John Bohannon tallied a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Vince Hunter and Matt Willms poured in 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Prince Williams, Paris Campbell and Akeem Richmond all scored 14 points as 12th-seeded ECU’s (17-16) season came to a close. Caleb White was also a factor with 13 points.

UTEP created some separation in the first half by outshooting ECU from the field, 50 percent to 33.3 percent, as it led comfortably at intermission, 42-26.

The Pirates improved their field goal shooting to 51.6 percent in the second stanza but only managed to bring their deficit to single digits in the final minute.

UTEP overcame a poor free-throw shooting night (12-of-22) by winning both the rebounding (37-30) and turnover (14-11) battles.

Final Score: Charlotte 80, UAB 70

El Paso, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – Denzel Ingram led five players in double figures with 18 points as the Charlotte 49ers topped the UAB Blazers 80-70 in the second round of the Conference USA Tournament at the Don Haskins Center.

Terrence Williams added 16 points for the ninth-seeded 49ers (17-13), who will face top-seed Louisiana in the quarterfinals. Shawn Lester chipped in 11 points and Ben Cherry and Marcus Bryan each tallied 10. Willie Clayton cleared 11 boards.

Chad Frazier finished with a game-high 19 points for the eighth-seeded Blazers (18-13). which also got 11 points from Tyler Madison and 10 from Denzell Watts.

Both teams shot well to start the game. UAB connected on 48.1 percent from the field, although it only hit 4-of-14 from beyond the arc. Charlotte was that much better, sinking 53.3 percent overall and 7-of-11 from 3-point range. The 49ers led 46-33 at the break.

In the second half Charlotte cooled to 44 percent shooting, but it hit 11- of-19 at the free-throw line, while the Blazers hit on just 6-of-16 at the charity stripe and connected on 40.6 percent from the floor.

For the game the 49ers sank 18-of-30 attempts at the free-throw line. UAB netted only 9-of-24.
