Colonial Athletic Association Tournament Recaps
Baltimore, MD (SportsNetwork.com) – Marcus Thornton had a game-high 17 points and Omar Prewitt scored 16, as the top-seeded William & Mary Tribe notched a 72-59 win over No. 8 seed Elon in quarterfinal round action of the CAA Championship at Royal Farms Arena.
Daniel Dixon added 12 points for the Tribe (19-11), who advance to the semifinal round on Sunday to face Hofstra.
Elijah Bryant had 15 points to pace the Phoenix (15-18), who knocked off ninth-seeded Towson in overtime on Friday. Austin Hamilton and Tanner Samson finished with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Elon shot just 9-of-26 from the floor (.346) in the first half while the Tribe shot an even 50 percent and made 6-of-15 3-pointers to build a 36-26 halftime lead.
William & Mary tacked on five more threes in the second stanza and stretched its lead to as many as 18 with 11 minutes remaining. The Phoenix were unable to cut the margin to single digits the rest of the way.
The Tribe shot a healthy 52.3 percent for the game and had 17 assists on 23 field goals as a team.

Baltimore, MD (SportsNetwork.com) – Moussa Kone registered a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards as the fifth-seeded Hofstra Pride coasted to a 74-57 decision over the No. 4 seeded James Madison Dukes in the quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament at Royal Farms Arena.
Ameen Tanksley contributed 16 points for the Pride (20-12), who will advance to take on the No. 1 seed William & Mary in Sunday’s semifinal round. Rokas Gustys added 11 points, while Juan’ya Green tallied 10 points and eight assists.
Ron Curry led the Dukes (19-13) with 18 points and four assists. Dimitrije Cabarkapa provided 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field for JMU.
Hofstra took a 39-33 lead into the intermission after it assisted nine of its 16 makes from the floor before the break. The Dukes were limited to 2-of-13 shooting from 3-point range in the opening 20 minutes of action.
The Pride knocked down 55.6 percent of their field goal tries in the second half to extend their lead. JMU was limited to 45 percent shooting from the floor and committed eight turnovers after halftime.
Hofstra outscored JMU, 46-28, in the paint.

Baltimore, MD (SportsNetwork.com) – Cedrick Williams scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as the second-seeded UNC Wilmington Seahawks defeated the 10th-seeded College of Charleston Cougars, 79-53, in the quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament at Royal Farms Arena.
Freddie Jackson also scored 19 points for the Seahawks (18-12). Addison Spruill contributed 12 points and eight rebounds while Craig Ponder chipped in with 11 points and four assists. UNC Wilmington advances to the semifinal round on Sunday against the winner of the Delaware/Northeastern contest.
The Cougars (9-24) were led by Joe Chealey who dropped in 12 points, while Donovan Gilmore accounted for a team-best 11 rebounds in the setback.
The Seahawks shot 43.8 percent from the field and scored eight points off eight Cougar turnovers in the first half as they took a 40-29 lead at the break. Charleston converted just 1-of-6 shots behind the 3-point line through the first 20 minutes of action.
In the second half the Seahawks shot a sizzling 65.4 percent from the field and outscored the Cougars 22-14 in the paint, en route to the 26-point win. Charleston shot 32.4 percent from the field and converted on 4-of-8 shots from beyond the arc.
The Seahawks outscored the Cougars, 36-26, in the paint.
