Clowney to miss minicamp after sports hernia surgery
Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – Houston Texans defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is recovering from sports hernia surgery and will miss the team’s upcoming minicamp next week.
The Texans said Clowney had been bothered by a groin issue and underwent a procedure on Thursday. He is expected to be ready for training camp in July.
Clowney was selected with the first overall pick in May’s draft and last week signed a four-year contract worth a reported $22.272 million, including a $14.518 million signing bonus.
The South Carolina product finished his collegiate career second in school history with 47 tackles for loss and third with 24 sacks.
