Chiefs’ Mays lands on IR
Kansas City, MO (SportsNetwork.com) – The Kansas City Chiefs placed linebacker Joe Mays on injured reserve with a designation to return on Tuesday.
Mays, who underwent surgery last month to repair a torn tendon in his wrist, had one sack and 67 tackles in 14 games for Houston last season, including 13 starts.
The six-year veteran has recorded 220 tackles and 1 1/2 sacks over 61 games with Philadelphia, Denver and Houston.
Kansas City also signed safety Kurt Coleman. The four-year pro has played in 59 games with Philadelphia, where he compiled 221 tackles, seven interceptions and two forced fumbles.
