Kansas City, MO (SportsNetwork.com) – The Kansas City Chiefs have signed safety Tyvon Branch.

Terms of the deal for the former Oakland Raider were not disclosed.

Branch was released by the Raiders last week. He was slated to earn $5.5 million in 2015 with Oakland.

“We are excited we were able to reach a deal with Tyvon and bring him to Kansas City,” said Chiefs general manager John Dorsey in a statement Tuesday. “He is a physical player who we feel can help our defense. We’re looking forward to having him.”

The 28-year-old veteran spent his first seven seasons with the Raiders and has appeared in 75 games with 67 starts. However, he was unable to stay on the field the past two seasons, missing 13 games with a broken foot in 2014 and 14 games the previous year with a broken leg.

Branch registered more than 100 tackles in three consecutive seasons from 2009-11 and overall has 461 tackles with eight sacks and four interceptions.
