Chen takes Open de Espana Femenino title

Costa Adeje, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) – Connie Chen fired a final-round, 3- under 69 on Sunday to earn a 2-shot victory at the Open de Espana Femenino.

Chen finished the week at Golf Costa Adeje at 12-under 276. It is Chen’s first victory on the Ladies European Tour.

After making three straight pars to start her day, Chen poured in her first birdie on the par-4 fourth hole. Following two more pars, Chen tripped to her first bogey of the day on No. 7. She got that shot right back, however, with a birdie on the par-4 eighth.

After making the turn at minus-1, Chen made another birdie on 11. Two holes later she came up huge with an eagle on the par-5 13th, getting her to minus-4. Four more pars preceded a bogey at the last, but it did not matter as Chen earned a 2-shot victory.

Spaniard Carlota Ciganda finished in sole possession of second place at 10- under 278 after her final-round 69. Right behind her was Beth Allen (67), who ended at minus-9.

Charley Hull (70) finished at 8-under 280, while Nontaya Srisawang (66), Nikki Campbell (68), Hannah Burke (68), Pamela Pretswell (68) and Celine Herbin (73) were one shot back of Hull at minus-7.
