Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) – The CFL has begun to form a search committee to lead the process toward finding a new commissioner.

Mark Cohon announced in August that he would not seek another term in charge of the league. His second term ends in April 2015.

The league’s Board of Governors on Tuesday announced the committee will be led by CFL chairman Jim Lawson. It will also include several CFL governors, as well as senior leadership from each team.

“The committee is looking forward to a process that will result in securing the best possible candidate for this prestigious position at an important time for our league,” said Lawson.

The process will also include help from search consulting firm Spencer Stuart.
