Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Boston Celtics announced Friday that guard Rajon Rondo underwent successful surgery on a broken hand.

The procedure, called a surgical fixation of a left metacarpal fracture, was performed at New England Baptist Hospital this morning. The injury was a result of a fall at his home on Thursday night.

The team said Rondo is expected to be out 6-to-8 weeks while recovering.

Rondo averaged 11.7 points, 9.8 assists and 5.5 rebounds per contest over just 30 appearances last season.
