Carter, Scrivens, Nielsen earn NHL weekly honors
New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Los Angeles Kings center Jeff Carter, Edmonton Oilers goaltender Ben Scrivens and New York Islanders center Frans Nielsen were named the NHL’s players of the week on Monday.
Carter gained First Star honors after posting two goals and four assists in two games, helping the defending Stanley Cup champions complete a perfect six- game homestand for the first time in franchise history.
Scrivens went 3-0-0 with a 2.33 goals-against average and .920 save percentage to earn the Second Star.
Nielsen received the Third Star after registering four goals and an assist over three games. He picked up his first career hat trick with three third- period goals in Saturday’s 7-5 win over Dallas.
